So I used to work at Ontario Place, circa 2005, as an artist. Oh yes – I got to sit around outside all day, painting children’s faces to make them look like zebras or frogs, giving them pink and purple airbrush tattoos of bunnies holding balloons, and engraving leather bracelets. It was the best job EVER.
Also I got to meet one of my favourite artists in the world!
Frank and I spent SO much time together, drawing, talking…
and laughing our asses off when we got reprimanded for stencil-ing our own original design airbrush tattoo goose.
Frank is an amazing artist, and since our secret goose days he has gone on to become a very successful comic book artist and art teacher. He’s heading off to England to teach in the fall! He won’t be around on the day of our show – he’ll be busy learning how to speak like an Englishman – but his amazing comic books will be there! Including the 4th issue of a new original story called The Song of Otto. This is a collaboration with writer Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer, re-visioning the ancient crusade epic The Song of Roland set in Roncesvalles Village in Toronto, the original battle taking place in Roncesvalles, France.
Holy awesome!! I’ve read the first three and I can’t WAIT to get my hands on the 4th!
Come and check Frank’s stuff out! Leave him fan mail! Check out his blog! sparrowcomics.blogspot.com
